Born in the rust belt, raised in the south, and currently based in Brooklyn, dystopian romantic E.W. Harris is a regular figure in the New York folk, alt-folk, and outsider music scenes. Known for his powerful vocal performances and experimental demeanor, Harris can be a difficult performer to classify. Strong narrative elements and acoustic guitar accompaniment definitely signal a strong folk influence, however, Harris is rarely seen performing outside of the company of his “robots” (an array of broken toys and upcycled tech) and his brother Phil Harris on drums, singing saw, and various other lo-tech gadgetry. Lyrically, Harris has a taste for the speculative, working largely in the fictional post-apocalyptic universe of “Rocket City” with songs varying in subjects from bored demigods, to lonely robots, to the accidental bifurcation of the soul. His current project “Homunculus IV” is underway now in collaboration with Kia Eshghi’s Hanging Moon Records, as well as a dual Hanging Moon Records/Greedy Dilletante Records single release. The single is the song “Bad Ghost” and is expected to be completed early 2021.
